I've often wondered why there aren't more women who aspire to be home builders. The profession is dominated by men. And while men do a perfectly fine job, it just seems that a woman would have a unique perspective to bring to the table.

I was delighted to find that there is at least one woman who agrees. Carmin Coutee Awadzi is the president of Magnolia Custom Homes in Chicago. You may remember her from HGTV's Dream Home. There was definitely a learning curve during her project on that show, and many hurdles and challenges that she faced. But from looking at her website, it seems that most of those kinks that come with starting a new business may be working themselves out. Her work is absolutely beautiful--timeless and classic.
